Second, we made a mistake with the turkeys. Some may know this. Others, like me, may not think about it. Our mistake? When we had the turkeys processed, we immediately brought them home and tossed them into the freezer. A few things:
1) The turkeys were in a loose but sealed bag.
2) The turkeys were bagged wet from processing.
3) The previous two conditions didn’t register when we tossed them into the freezer.
We now have freezer-burned turkeys.
*bangs head on desk*
Vacuum packing would’ve been much better and probably would’ve prevented this. I’m going to see what I can do to salvage them. Judging from the skin discoloration I’m going to guess the damage is done. This is definitely a learning process.
